Sonya Atkinson is a dedicated educator, coach, facilitator, and mentor coach with over 20 years of experience working in education, with the last 13 years as an internal and external coach. She completed her inaugural coaching training with JST in 2011 and went on to implement ADHD Coaching strategies with her internal high school clients. In 2019, Sonya added Emotional Intelligence Coaching training to her toolbox, equipping her with the skill set necessary for navigating the emotional landscape of herself and others, particularly regarding the coaching relationship. Sonya holds a PCC coaching credential with the International Coaching Federation and works diligently to maintain that credential. She serves on the Board of Directors of the ICF Metro DC Chapter as the Director of the Learning and Development Committee.

Sonya also has her own private coaching, facilitation, and mentor coaching business specializing in Personal Development Coaching. As a Coach, she focuses on helping individuals understand the why beneath the habitual patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving that keep them stuck in life & no longer serve them. She does this by combining the best of her educational background and coaching training in Learning & Attention Disorders, ADHD & Executive Function Deficits, Neurodiversities, Emotional Intelligence, Positive Intelligence, Positive Psychology, Attachment Styles, and the Enneagram of Personality. Sonya independently contracts year-round as a Level 1 and 2 coach trainer and mentor coach with four separate ICF-accredited coaching programs. Mentor Coaching holds a special place in Sonya’s heart, as she has had to develop her capacity to listen and not tell, stand with and not do for, and, most importantly, serve as a champion for budding coaches. When not coaching, Sonya enjoys extensive international travel, cruises, spending time with family and friends, and trying out new outdoor activities!
